Sad realization: my most interesting photos really are the ones I don’t look at while taking.
I can rarely say enough good things about Better On You; and this photoshoot has only made my list of accolades longer. Between having a welcoming staff composed of models, photographers and designers and an owner whose forte is creating new permutations of up-cycled and rediscovered haut couture fashions, Better On You has carved out a long-lasting and guiding presence in the Calgary fashion scene. As a consignment store with a focus on design, BOYou surges with cost-effective ways to cut across trends and distill dramatic style. The berth of interesting threads and the owner (Maggie)’s discerning eye gave this Fall photoshoot a distinct air of sly whimsy.
The models, photographers and, of course, the staff of Better On You made this shoot a distinct joy. Thank you.

I’ve had some fun motorcycling across China, climbing mountains in Africa and cruising the Med in Turkey but, man, Matt & Frankie bring excitement to my life.
Just before they move to Northern China and pass on their Parkour Magazine to me, I was privileged enough to be asked to shoot their engagement photos.
Here are a few snappings of the earth-shakingly happy couple.
I know this tantalizing little preview must have you drooling with anticipation to see the fruits of our photoshoot with Better On You today. I’m gone training with the Military* for the next 15 days though so you best buckle up and let this little ditty tide you over.

All week I have been stoked that my old travel partner, Jeff Vonk, has gotten a book published about his life and our travel stories. Today he sent me the cover photo. It’s slightly recognizable. I took that shot of him at the base of Everest, in the midst of an epic 5000 kilometer motorcycle journey across China, Tibet, and Nepal.
You may think it’s similar to my profile pic on this blog—that was the version he took of me.

This happened by accident while I was resizing my signature on an old photo I had mistakenly discovered while sifting through a long-forgotten album from years ago, horseback riding with a friend in St-Lazare, Quebec.
What a fortuitous set of accidents. I really like it.

I captured the sky in a bowl then flipped it upside down. For serious. Believe me, guys. I’m not trying to make a crappy April Fool’s joke. I really did it. Jeez.
